Letter to the Editor: In Support of Dr. Cassaundra Rose

RePower Wiscasset is proud to urge voters to cast their ballots for Dr. Cassaundra Rose for the Wiscasset Selectboard. RePower Wiscasset is a citizen-organization dedicated to advocating for sustainable power generation, green innovation, and a resilient local economy. We recognize that our town stands at a critical crossroad. To turn Wiscasset’s legacy infrastructure into a hub for alternative energy and community wealth, we need leaders with the precise expertise to navigate complex energy and policy landscapes. Cassaundra Rose is exactly that leader.

Our mission at RePower Wiscasset centers on leveraging smart, forward-thinking development that lowers the tax burden on residents while protecting our natural environment. Cassaundra’s platform aligns perfectly with these goals. Her commitment to leading by example through municipal energy efficiency—such as moving major town-owned buildings like the Recreation Center away from volatile fossil fuels toward high-efficiency solutions—is a masterclass in combining fiscal responsibility with sustainability. Furthermore, her background as an Earth scientist and a state-level climate policy coordinator gives Wiscasset a distinct advantage. She understands how municipal planning intersects with broader energy grids and state funding frameworks. She has already proven her ability to bring outside resources home, successfully co-leading the Wiscasset Climate Action Team's efforts to secure state grant funding for vital waterfront resilience planning.

Recent debates over land use and energy development in Wiscasset have underscored the critical need for a transparent, community-driven approach to planning. RePower Wiscasset has long advocated for an open, collaborative strategic energy plan that respects the voices of residents. Cassaundra’s campaign places data-driven solutions and community engagement at its core, ensuring that town residents have a direct seat at the table when shaping our economic and environmental future.

Wiscasset has an incredible opportunity to lead our region in green innovation and smart economic growth, particularly surrounding key areas like the Old Ferry Road site. To unlock that potential, we need a Selectboard member who possesses the scientific credentials, funding track record, and collaborative spirit to turn vision into policy. We believe Cassaundra Rose is the right choice for Wiscasset’s future, and we encourage our neighbors to join us in supporting her on Election Day.
